The Scriptures are God Inspired

Never has there been a book as scrutinized and scandalized; yet, still evangelized and magnified like the Word of God.  Yes, in these days and times it seems as if man has become too scientific and intelligent to be bound by the idea of the Word of God.  The miracles of Jesus are constantly under attack by skeptics and the idea of the creation still remains insultingly labeled as “controversial.”  However, the fact that this deviation exist serves as inevitable and additional proof that further authenticates the Divine Inspiration of the Word (in that, it is the Word of God that predicted such a deviation / cf. 1 Timothy 4:1-4).  Therefore, it is not my intention to silence the “Biblically-prophesied” nay-sayers and doubters (especially in light of the fact that the pleasure of God is found in man’s faith in Him / cf. Hebrews 11:6); rather, I wish to speak on behalf of the convictions that we maintain here at the Eastland Church of Christ concerning the Word of God. 

We believe that the Word of God is self-authenticating in that the Word of God, is a manifestation of God, via God’s own “Word” (cf. John 1:1).  It is for this reason that we conclude that the Word proves itself by itself because there is no greater verification.  Exactly what outside source of confirmation, could actually stand to condemn the Excellency of God or His manifested Word?  Who is that intelligent?  What evidence that compelling?  How does science stand to condemn the Divine Scientist?  How can intelligence belittle the author of all wisdom and understanding?  To any man who stands to denounce the Word of God, I pose the self same questions God posed to Job in Job 38:2-7, “(2) Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? (3) Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. (4) "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. (5) Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? (6) On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—(7) while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?”(NIV) Fact, it is impossible for the created to stand against the Creator victoriously.  Therefore, we conclude that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (cf. 2 Timothy 3:16) for no greater reason, other than God said so!
